Great for a luxury vacation
We absolutely LOVED our stay at this resort. My husband and I were celebrating our 10 year anniversary and this resort really made it feel like a luxury vacation. Our check-in was friendly and informative. Our room was clean, spacious, and had the best view. A fitness center was very important to us and this one delivered! Lots of great fitness equipment and it was never too busy. The pools were perfect temperature and clean. The beach was gorgeous and the resort provided chairs and umbrellas were wonderful. We went to the restaurant Meridia for one of our dinners and it was delicious! We were very pleased. From start to finish we were very impressed with this resort. We plan on returning again in the future.

EXQUISITE BEACH!!!!
Absolutely gorgeous! Exquisite views of the ocean throughout. Beach lovers, look no further! Longest stretch white sand + 1 of our favorites of all Hawaii. Beach: Typically calm in am + active later ,not rough. Chairs w/ umbrellas fill early always available + at pools. Pools: Both lovely + not busy. Plenty of towels. Ikena Landing: Ala carte items tasty. Strawberry papaya amazing! Buffet not worth $48 price tag. Views + ambiance spectacular + service from all stellar!!! Miramar a complete joy + exemplary. Vannah a delight, informed of gluten-free options. Felipe fantastic, ultra professional. Sylvia, sweetheart + very kind. So appreciated everyone! Our last day, the host unfortunately extremely unprofessional + we opted to leave + order room service instead due to his poor behavior. Otherwise, truly enjoyed. Only recommendation, create more tasty gluten + dairy free options + inform guests. Upon request, Cavaii provided phenomenal care, arranged gf df blueberry pancakes, fantastic. Meridia: Reviewed separately. View + ambiance gorgeous, food tasty, fees higher than value. Enjoyed Canoe House most + Brown's. Visit Meridia, more beautiful than Manta. Sandra, a standout!! Napuka: Food good, not great, alike for room service. Overall, Westin can improve food options, not stellar. Really enjoyed Copper Bar + live music at MK, Hau Tree like Napuka. Reception: Kenji was the absolute HIGHLIGHT + highest customer care we experienced. What a gem!! Virgil, very kind. Margarite in management provided resolution to upsetting issue at Ikena our last day, gratitude for her service. Cabana Pool Desk: The team at this desk needs a major overhaul. Only one tall gentleman was professional + reflected Westin brand. We booked a cabana 6 weeks in advance to be told we were out of luck by young girl who was dismissive, unprofessional, very snotty attitude, one can sense she simply doesn't care for the guests. KC, manager of Napuka is an absolute earth angel + swooped in to remediate the situation, she was definitely the strongest leadership + highest caliber of true care we encountered. Makena, cabana manager, initially quite snippy however, due to KC's involvement, quickly changed her tune but expressed displeasure a bit argumentatively to us relative to KC taking care of her team's mishap, which made us uncomfortable after several hours wity no resolution of our booking. Our 2nd cabana rental, Kyle delivered 3 drinks instead of 6 promised with the rental. When we requested promised coconut water he said there wasn't any although we knew the bar upstairs has it, he finally brought us 1 can, took our two juices + one pellegrino back in return. Hence, we received 2 drinks of promised 6. We mentioned not loving canned sugared juice but found it lacking tact he took them back with no replacement. We were so disappointed with the entire cabana team, we simply let it go. Westin 100% needs to rehire a new team. Valet: Jayson an absolute pleasure + took exemplary care throughout our trip. Entire valet team very professional, welcoming + helpful. Room: Premier ocean high floor view gorgeous! Bedding comfortable, beach bags, water bottle provided, great accompaniment, filtered water is available everywhere + so appreciated. Constructive Feedback: Details needed relative to walking paths. We planned to walk the trail between Mauna Kea + told by employees not safe + a few guests ended up at hospital due to falls/jagged rock, only go if familiar. Hence, we walked golf path through neighborhoods. Thankful we found out but some guests may not ask + go. We are fit to handle, safety paramount, online doesn't relay a dangerous path, indicates it's easy. We LOVED the Westin!!! Mostly everyone was so wonderful. Albeit guidance relative to cabana team matters we will recommend it to others + definitely return on our next visit to Big Island!

Beautiful Resort!
We had an amazing vacation on the Big Island, Hawaii at the Westin Hapuna Beach Resort. This is a 5 star hotel with beautiful ocean views from the rooms, white sand swimmable beach, pools, hot tub and plenty of amenities and great dining opportunities. We were greeted with smiles and courtesy from the moment we arrived: the valet attendants, reception desk, concierge, housekeeping, entertainers and restaurant staff among others were very respectful and accommodating! The food was prepared and presented in style and delicious in all the restaurants, including the beautiful sunset views. Thank you to everyone who made our 40th anniversary a memorable celebration!

Decent property - customer service lacks
Decided to come here for a last minute baby moon. Booked a ground for lanai room and used our platinum status to upgrade. Was upgraded a few days before arrival to a high floor - I called to inquire if there were any upgraded rooms on a lower floor; being 6mo pregnant with twins I didn’t want to have to have a long walk to the pool/recreational areas. The man I spoke to was beyond rude, he actually hung up on me when I asked this. I ended up email about my experience and asking if someone could explain to me what my room options were. The person I emailed with was decent but never even offered an apology for being yelled at and hung up on. Ended up taking the upgraded room and the hotel is truly a maze to get anywhere. Our walk from our room to either of the pools is multiple different elevators, stairs etc. it’s not great… exactly what I was trying to avoid - but whatever, adjusted my expectations and moved on. No one at the hotel is overly friendly or overly helpful. When we went to the spa we were told they had no more appt the next two days (the hotel is pretty darn quiet). Again, honestly met with pretty rude service - no offer to help us get booked next door at the sister property which should be an option. Went to the front to ask about getting a dinner reservation - no one’s available or working that area… great. No offer to help or anything, just “try again later”? Again, we’re Marriott platinum members and I’m certainly not expecting the world but some general hospitality would go a LONG way. The room is mid sized, not overly luxurious. The house keeping is minimal. The robe they left out for me has a giant blood stain on it - let if out for them to change with the visible stain and it’s still in my room 3 days later. Overall, would not stay here again.

Pool and beach security a disappointment!
We stayed in one of The Mauna Kea Residences; although it was pricey, it was exactly what we had hoped for. The unit was clean, great location and the kitchen was well stocked with higher end appliances. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. I was happy we were able to use the beach; beautiful white sand, pool and hot tub. I took 2 stars off for one reason only and that is the lack of security around the pool and beach areas. I do know the beach itself is public, but I believe the lounge chairs and pool are reserved for “Paying Guests”, not friends of employees or public crashers. What is disturbing, is when reading through previous reviews, it seems to be a common problem that has not been fixed. The pool and beach attendants are very young and confronting unpaying guests maybe uncomfortable. We stayed 8 days and did not see management in either of those areas. On Saturday, after golf, we went to the pool area only to find approximately 20 teenagers taking over the pool, playing football, hot tub, and shaded lounge chairs on the grass. Based on their conversations, most were either friends of employees there or family and most didn’t have towels. I believe it was some sort of celebration. While we were in the hot tub a local artist, gal , was bragging that she has been crashing with her family for 30 years. Come on Westin management, please make security a priority; your paying guests deserve it.
