10 stars for David and Daniela
Amazing experience with David and Daniela. We did tequila tasting, archery, riffle shooting and did snorkelling with David this morning and also kayaking. David is very knowledgeable in what he does and super friendly, Daniela as well was very helpful and very kind - we had great fun with them doing these activities. Would definitely recommend to speak to them and do activities with them!!! Thank you to both!! Made us have a great experience!!!

Mixed experience at a beautiful resort, not five-star service
We recently stayed at the TRS Yucatan Resort in Mexico for a family holiday and came away with mixed feelings. The resort itself is beautiful, with some genuinely excellent elements, but unfortunately the overall experience did not consistently meet the standards we would expect from a five-star, all-inclusive resort, especially given the price point. Our issues began on arrival. After a delayed 10-hour flight, we waited around an hour and a half to check in, having been awake for nearly 20 hours. For a five-star resort, this felt unacceptable. By the time we reached the suggested buffet, no fresh food was being replenished, something that could have been avoided with better communication or process at check-in. We had two rooms for our stay, and my parents’ room in particular had significant issues with dampness. Clothes felt damp, pillows smelt disgusting, and using the air conditioning made it worse. The pillows were changed the next day, but after repeatedly raising these and further issues, they were eventually moved to a different, upgraded room a week into the stay, which was lovely, but it shouldn’t have taken that long to resolve. Even in our room, decorative pillows had an unpleasant “overused” smell and clearly needed refreshing. Food was another consistent disappointment. We are food lovers and found the quality and execution below expectations, poorly cooked dishes, steaks arriving well done when ordered medium-rare, and inconsistent meat quality. More frustrating was the lack of confidence from staff when handling complaints. On one occasion, when my dad politely explained that his steak was very tough, the response was simply a laugh and no attempt to resolve the issue. This highlighted a real training gap rather than a language barrier. The wine offering was particularly surprising. At a five-star all-inclusive resort, the selection was extremely limited, one white, one red and one rosé, with the rosé being a very sweet Zinfandel style. Having stayed at TRS Ibiza previously with an excellent wine selection, this felt like a step backwards. We decided to buy wine instead, but even then it was repeatedly served warm. We eventually had to pre-order wine via our butler each evening to ensure it was chilled, a workaround that shouldn’t be necessary when you’re paying extra. Restaurant bookings were another source of stress. Despite being told arrangements could be made to book ahead for when family joined us, this dragged on for days and resulted in limited availability. Even with bookings, we were often seated 30–45 minutes late, and the arrival process felt unnecessarily inefficient, being asked to wait despite visible empty tables. We were also disappointed with how feedback was handled. TRS emailed us asking for initial feedback shortly after arrival, which we provided honestly and requested follow-up, but no one contacted us. While our butlers helped escalate issues and did their best, communication from management lacked clarity and continuity. That said, there were highlights. Our butlers, Moses and Itzel, were genuinely fantastic and tried very hard to help wherever they could. The TRS infinity pool is excellent, and the BBQ served there was a standout. On days with a DJ, the atmosphere was brilliant, we just wish this happened more often. The wellness classes and entertainment were also impressive. The CHIC cabaret and Bravo shows (paid extras) were phenomenal, with outstanding food, ironically the best meals we had all holiday. The French restaurant was also very good, and special mention goes to Alexis at CHIC for exceptional service. Helios breakfast was another consistent positive, both for food and setting. The resort grounds themselves are stunning, with great variety and a lovely layout. The buggy service is efficient, but if the weather allows, walking around is a pleasure. We also appreciated thoughtful moments, such as the butler checking in when my dad wasn’t well. The New Years Eve party was great as well - although I did not feel well informed ahead of time as to what the options were and what was happening across the resort. In the end, we did have a nice holiday, but it took effort. We spent much of the first week chasing issues and managing expectations, which isn’t what you want from a luxury break. We are not habitual complainers, and it was frustrating to feel we had to push so hard for basic five-star standards. TRS Yucatan has huge potential and an excellent physical setup, but it needs stronger management, better staff training, clearer communication, and more consistent quality control to truly live up to its brand promise, especially when compared to other TRS properties we’ve experienced.

Most amazing managers and staff ever at a hotel
This hotel is amazing!!! The manager Roxanne is one of the kindest managers I have ever dealt with. It would seem no matter where you are at hotel you would run into her or her staff. They always remembered my name and always assisted me if I needed anything. I had zero problems. The food the room the poool and ocean were above and beyond what I expected and paid for. It’s worth it. I also was able to meet with Luis the head of the hotel. He is amazing always on the move finding time to speak with customers and listening to them. He has a wonderful staff. Cortina and Betty are amazing mangers. This hotel goes above and beyond to help make your experience amazing. The food is the best. There are so many selections and options you can get lost!!! The beach buffet at Kantenah is amazing they totally changed it. Very healthy and really good choices.

Could have done better.
This is a 3 star hotel masquerading as a 5 star hotel. The accommodation is in need of refurbishing if it wants to achieve 5 star rating. The restaurants are average with regard to food quality and very disappointing if you are gluten intolerant. The main hotel public areas and grounds are very nice and the Chic cabaret is not to be missed. The roads however are in need of repair. The wild life in the grounds was a surprising bonus. We stayed over Christmas and New Year and whilst we had a good break I wouldn’t say it was outstanding.
