TRS Yucatan Birthday Celebration
Returned on Sunday from a wonderful birthday celebration at TRS Yucatan. Building 64 - Suite PP - PS. The butlers were amazing! I can't say enough about Miguel, Ricardo and Isreal who organized our dinners and celebrations. The housekeeping staff goes above and beyond. Our room was cleaned each day and turn down service was such a treat. We did the Bonfire Beach dinner, CHIC and the sunset catamaran tour. We had no problem getting dinner reservations or special requests, such as a dehumidifier and extra blankets for the room. Food was exceptional with great service and Enrique, the beach butler at TRS beach, was phenomenal and secured us the same Bali bed each day on the beach. We met with our PTC concierge, Joao, to arrange our transportation back to the airport and the tour. He was very pleasant and of course we always spend time with Karla at PTC who is such a joy. Every staff member we encountered was wonderful and helpful. Angel, the cart driver, picked us up and delivered us to dinner on time and is always helpful. Riviera Maya is our favorite resort in the Grand Palladium group. This is our 5th visit there and each time gets better. The resort is beautiful and well maintained. Looking forward to our next visit.

Wonderful resort
My girlfriends and I had a wonderful time here! There is something for everyone to do here and it was very clean and had good food options. We especially enjoyed our ceviche making class with the Double Ds of TRS (Daniela and Donald)!

We loved our stay at TRS Yucatan. The food and drinks were delicious, everything was very clean, and the butler service was outstanding. They arranged shuttles, excursions, made dinner reservations, and so much more, all with a the best customer service and smiles.

Horrible experience with many problems
Our stay at TRS Yucatan was supposed to be the highlight of our 3 weeks trip to Mexico. We chose it over others, because it offered premium services and was advertised as an adults only 5-star property. Unfortunately reality proved to be very different. Rather than 5-star experience, we were faced with rooms that are far from 5-star hotel, inconsistent quality of food and drinks, horrible customer service and communication chaos that forced us to leave the hotel earlier than our planned check-out date and file a formal complaint. I am posting this review as a warning to others. If you want to have hassle-free holiday, go somewhere else! Most of the staff was very friendly and smiling, but oftentimes this smile was hiding incompetence, poor management, lack of quality and organisation. It seems that there is a serious problem with work organisation and if your question or problem fell outside someone’s exact competence, you were left without solution, wrongly directed, questioned or ignored. There is absolutely no sense of ownership from the staff, even from the management level (we had serious issue with the front desk manager who promised to organise our transfer to the airport which was included in our booking and then didn't do it and accused us of lying what eventually made us leave the resort before check-out) who fails to provide any support to guests. Simplest task as organising airport transfer are impossible to deliver. Misinformation or directly lack of information between staff leads to frustration to say the least. Rather than enjoying our holiday, we were nervous and tensed on the outlook of next problem. Butlers who should be your main point of contact can't do much more than booking your dinners and showing the room. Anything else false outside of their competence and hence can't be done as they're not allowed to contact other departments above their level (e.g. supervisors). Ultimately it's the guest who has to run between lobby and the villa. Our room (villa 6, junior suite with private pool) initially felt nice, but soon we realised it had serious problems with dampness and mold. With no ventilation in the shower or toilette and A/C that doesn't have dry mode, our clothes started to smell bad on the first day. Glue and silicone stains in bathroom, corroded hinges, closet that won't close, stained sheets, leaking fridge – all this left us a bit uncomfortable, but we looked the other way as we wanted to enjoy our stay rather than complain. The whole eating experience is weirdly organised. For breakfast, event though at both Helios and Capriccio you get a buffet, you still need to wait to be seated, sometimes 2 minutes, sometimes 20. I'm not sure if this a way of the management to show the 'quality' of the resort, but it only causes confusion and frustration, particularly at Helios where you can access the place via different doors. You can enter, but can't sit until you've given your name, room number and spend time waiting to be seated. What's the purpose of the bracelets? Same happens for lunch and only at TRS. At the sister hotels, we could easily have lunch (e.g. La Laguna) without waiting. The waitress only saw our bracelet and we could enjoy lunch. BTW, this was the best and the only hassle-free lunch we had. Be prepared that the moment you arrive to your room, you have to book dinners for your WHOLE stay. And you don't decide timing – this depends on availability. One day we dined at 19:00, the other at 22:00. Guess what, when you arrive, you still have to wait to be seated. The restaurants try to present themselves as higher-end than they actually are, serving small portions of poor-quality food. During dinner at Tentazione we felt as at a fast-food chain. Our dinner lasted 25 minutes (sic!) as the main dish was served when we were still eating appetizers. The chef rushed as was explained by the waiter. This rush meant that we received raw seabass (!!!). When ordering shrimp souffle at La Boheme I received something that resembled runny scrambled eggs, very far from a souffle. Buffet at Helios was a mess with cold food and cold coffee we had to wait 30 mins for (!!). Capriccio was slightly better but the a la carte lunch only offered ridiculously small portions and the choice for breakfast buffet was rather limited. Both the beach and the infinity pool bar run out of food very quickly. We never managed to grab a wrap or pizza at infinity. Even at 15:00 they were already out of food (!). In theory most of the bars close at 18:00, but they start closing at 17:00 (!). If you want a drink or a bite at 17:30, better go to your room and check minibar. I never thought I could be hungry at what's supposed to be an all inclusive 5 star resort. Yet, at TRS I was hungry everyday. Room cleaning service is inconsistent and on some occasions lacking. In theory you get to decide when you want your room to be cleaned and you press green button. On the first day we turned it on after breakfast before going to the beach. When we came back four hours later and wanted to have a nap, our room wasn't cleaned – at 14:00. The cleaning staff would move our things around, including personal items (toothbrush, pyjama) and decide where they should be stored (sic!). Overall, our stay was disappointing to say the least and it was a horrible end of our holiday in Mexico. I can't understand all the positive reviews and I will not return to Palladium hotels.
