Good but not great
I recently stayed at this resort for my honeymoon for 8 nights. Overall we had a good experience so I think 4 stars is fair. The staff were nice, the room was spacious and clean, and the grounds are beautiful. There were a few negatives that I wanted to point out for future guests considering the resort. First, when we arrived at our room we were disappointed to see that the view from our ocean front room was obstructed by a hallway that looked directly into our room. The only way to see the ocean from any place in the room was to stand since the bed and sofa both faced the hallway. We found ourselves keeping the curtains closed most of the time for privacy, which really defeated the purpose of paying extra for the ocean front room. Based on our research we anticipated a fully unobstructed view for the room type we booked. We did bring this up to the front desk but the resort was unfortunately fully booked for our stay and they couldn’t move us. While walking the grounds and looking at the other ocean front rooms, it seems like ours was the only obstructed room and it seemed unfair for our room to cost the same as the rooms with completely unobstructed views. Second, there were multiple weddings and conferences that overlapped with our stay. This contributed to the hotel being at capacity but also meant that the adults only pool was very busy with groups of people chatting so it was pretty loud. Not a big deal for us but could be for others so wanted to mention it. Lastly, they were aware that we were there for our honeymoon but besides saying congratulations at check in and check out they did nothing special for us. I completely understand that these extras aren’t guaranteed, but we’ve experienced small touches at other Marriott properties (even for birthdays or anniversaries), so it felt a little underwhelming given the occasion and the cost of the resort.

Absolutely Disgusting Experience – Stay Away
Wailea Beach Resort is hands down one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve ever had. We booked two connecting rooms expecting the luxury and relaxation they boast about in their pictures. Reality? The rooms were tiny, dark, and reeked of a musty, nauseating odor so bad we had to spray everything down constantly just to breathe. It felt more like a run-down motel than a luxury resort. The rooms look nothing like the pictures — it’s a complete bait-and-switch. Don’t fall for the marketing; it’s all a scam. You’re paying for oceanfront glamour and getting a cramped, smelly mess. The cherry on top? The front desk staff. Rude, dismissive, and totally unhelpful. Leslie Labao, in particular, was shockingly unprofessional. She has no business working in hospitality, let alone representing management. Condescending attitude, zero empathy, and clearly irritated any time we asked for help. If that’s their idea of “Aloha spirit,” I’d hate to see what bad service looks like. For the price you’re paying, there are a dozen better places to stay in Maui. This resort has no business calling itself luxury. Don’t waste your money — go somewhere that actually cares about its guests and doesn’t reek of mildew and mediocrity.

Very Disappointed for the cost
We stayed at the Wailea Beach resort from May 16th - May 23rd. Upon arrival the front desk was kind and welcoming with POG juice and Leis. We were given a room in Halle 7 with a walk out patio. We requested and paid for this room. When we arrived I'd hope that things would "look better when the sun came up". However that was not the case. I have never spent this much on a room resembling a a roadside inn. The bathroom was a disgrace and I didn't even want to shower. mold everywhere and the toilet had to be re-caulked while we were there as it was leaking from the bottom constantly. The room was in desperate need of an upgrade. Which I believe the hotel was planning but did not expect to wake up to jack hammers and intense construction equipment ever day. It was a disgrace to charge 1200 for a room and have it be a nightmare. I did speak with management but outside of a discount for one night and a late check out they really did not have much to offer. If you are expecting top notch elegance, stay somewhere else. Also, they charge for housekeeping service. We asked to have our room cleaned once during stay but our bill had charges on it for house keeping almost daily. I pray they did not charge me to fix their leaking toilet. Some shadiness around the beach chairs as well. You should get one daily with the resort fee but they try and get money from you. They have daily exercise but can be hit or miss. Some great , but not all. One of the exercise instructors actually just stopped the class to call security to report a person walking thru the grass on the public access way. So our 45 minutes was really just 15 minutes of her fighting with someone. Very embarrassing to have that representing your brand. Positives: Ukelele lessons The spa pool - but comes with a price Sunsets Bottom line, the location is fantastic. However for the same price as out room we could have enjoyed much better hotels next door.

A beautiful Stay
A Beautiful Stay at the Marriott Wailea Beach Resort This hotel is absolutely gorgeous—from the rooms to the views, pools, and everything in between. The property is stunning, and every detail feels thoughtfully designed. Our room was very clean, clearly updated, and incredibly comfortable. The beds were especially noteworthy—so cozy and supportive, which can sometimes be hit-or-miss at other hotels. The staff was wonderful and accommodating in every interaction. They were friendly, professional, and always ready to help, which made the experience even more enjoyable. One area for improvement would be the hours of the on-site restaurants and bars. Most options seemed to close earlier than expected, leaving room service as the only late-night option. That said, the food and drinks were both delicious and well-prepared. Another concern was the parking situation. I wish parking were either included in the resort fee or at least offered at a lower rate. It feels a bit unfair, especially since there aren’t many alternative transportation options in the area. Additionally, the parking spaces themselves were extremely tight—it was almost impossible to comfortably get in or out of the car once parked. Pricing overall was on the higher end. While I understand that’s to be expected in Maui, some costs felt a bit steeper than anticipated. Still, despite a few minor drawbacks, I would absolutely return to this resort and wouldn’t hesitate to bring family or friends for an even longer stay. It was a wonderful experience, and I’m already looking forward to the next visit!
